Lot Essay

Muhammad Qasim bin Shadishah is known for being a slow scribe and to have copied manuscripts for Sultans and rulers. His recorded works are dated between AH 929/1522-23 and AH 955/1548-49 (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol.III, Tehran, 1348 sh., pp. 807-809).

This manuscript belonged to Sulayman Khan Qajar, a cousin of Aqa Muhammad Khan, the founder of the Qajar dynasty. A short description of the work and the name of Fath 'Ali Shah Qajar was added when the manuscript entered the Qajar Royal Library in AH 1232/1816-17. The manuscript also bears the seal impression of Nasir al-Din Shah.
