The form taken from the coco-de-mer shell, the body with a band of cartouches alternating with roundels containing naskh within gold overlaid borders, the upper surface with large cusped medallions showing two scenes with a youth and older man smoking a huqqa, the medallions bordered with gold overlay, the underside with a large floral medallion with elegant arabesques issuing two trefoiled palmettes, the signature within two small roundels at either end, hinged loops for suspension chain above
