A LARGE PIERCED INSET GILT-BRASS BRAZIER
OTTOMAN TURKEY, 19TH CENTURY
The domed lid rising from a facetted drum concealing the copper hearth to a drop-shaped terminal supporting a star and a crescent, engraved and worked with undulating stripes with animals on foliage, with two handles, set into a tall ribbed pedestal with inscribed cartouches on four feet with decorative handles and two large medallions with lion heads, each foot supported by a crouching lion, on associated tray with radiating cartouches with inscriptions, the surface inset with turquoise, coral and red glass stones, gilding partly missing
