Lot Essay

The colourful Sirohi school of Ragamala painting blossomed in the late 17th century with around ten series of miniatures now known. Another miniature from the same series was sold at Bonham's, 10 April 2008, lot 90. For others see K. Ebeling, Ragamala Painting, Basel, 1973, pp. 92-94 and no. 196, p. 243.
