Both with silver-plated liners and feet and both with applied silver cartouches engraved with crests and anchor motifs, marks of William Elliot, London 1832, the feet with engraved inscriptions relating to an 1832 fire
12½ & 11½ in. (32 & 29 cm.) high
And a matching jug with the same inscription to hinged lid (3)

The inscription on each vessel reading 'This Cup is made from the remains of a Beam forming part of the Millers Loft wherein the Fire commenced which totally destroyed that Part of the Anchor Brewery in Southwark - On the 22nd of May 1832-
The property of Mefs.rs Barclay Perkins & Co. And the plate bearing this Inscription was a piece of one of the Buckets of the Jacobs Ladder in the above Place.'
