A German giltwood and ebonised striking "Saegeuhr" for the Turkish market
Fourth quarter 18th Century
The circular brass dial with Turkish chapters, mock pendulum aperture, single winding hole (strike train), later pierced brass hands, within a foliate repoussé brass frame with dial bezel lacking glass, the four pillar movement encased within a large lead weight and having recoil escapement with gravity impulse from the falling weight, rack striking on a later bell above, lacking one side door, the foliate carved wood backboard surmounted by a baldachin with ribbon-tied drapes, the backboard terminating in a stiff-leaf wrapped urn with bud terminal
