Lot Essay

This garniture formed part of the extensive collections assembled by the Turin dealer, Giuseppe Rossi. Born to a family of craftsmen, Rossi's collection of connoisseur's objects and furniture from the 17th through 19th centuries comprised over 1,400 lots when sold at his death in 1999.

Compare with a much smaller garniture from the Pullan Collection (only two of the bottles with covers) exhibited at Spink, 16-30 November 1998, and illustrated in the catalogue (no. 31).
