A pair of porcelain cups and saucers from the service of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, 1799
by the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St Petersburg, period of Paul I, 1799
Each of cylindrical form, the body painted with a multi-coloured miniature depicting a landscape with ruin, framed within a circular gilt band and gilt laurel-wreath, the upper border a wide gilt band with pink roses and entwining green branches, with similarly decorated circular saucer, marked under base with dark blue underglaze 'P' beneath a crown
Cups 2 5/8 in. (6.7 cm.) high, saucers 5¼ in. (13.5 cm.) diameter (2)
