Lot Essay

In form and decoration, the present jug is very similar to items executed at the factory after the drawings of Jean Francois Xavier Hattenberger, director of the factory from 1803-6. Porcelain items executed after the drawings of Hattenberger are extremely rare. The Hermitage and the Russian Museum in St Petersburg have few examples.
