A large porcelain basket from the service of the Order of St Andrew First Called
by the Gardner Porcelain Factory, Moscow, period of Catherine II, 1778-1780
Oval, with tapering pierced sides and undulating gilt rim, the exterior decorated with the multi-coloured collar of the Order, the centre of the interior painted with the star of the Order with a letter symbol and motto, the two brown handles simulating twisted branches with small moulded flowers and leaves, with gilt detail on a moulded gilt base, marked under base with blue underglaze 'G'
