KOKOSHNIK DECORATED WITH PEARLS
Olonetskaia province, Russia, mid 19th century
Circular, with peaked front, the sides with ear lappets, a pearl mesh 'fringe' at the front, the entire hat embroidered in couched silk and metal thread, embellished with seed pearls and pink and gold foil, bound with red cotton and lined with red chequered cotton
