An Imperial presentation gold-mounted enamel snuff-box
probably German, circa 1840
Of bombé form, the hinged cover set in the centre with a circular blue guilloché ground medallion with raised and engraved gold cypher of Alexander II beneath the Imperial crown, within an applied, raised and engraved border of floral scrolls, strapwork and rosettes with guilloché enamel centres, the sides and base engraved with foliate scrolls and strapwork, with chased and engraved foliate scroll and shell thumbpiece, indistinctly marked in the base
