A SOUTH ARABIAN BRONZE BOWL
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.
Hemispherical, with an inscription around exterior rim giving the name of the owner as "Halikum Raza", below a frieze of animals with standards in between, 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) diam.; another bowl similar, the inscription with the name of the owner as "Gawb-'il, he of Mata'um", an animal frieze below, 4 in. (10 cm.) diam.; and a hemispherical bronze bowl with an Egyptian hieroglyphic dedicatory inscription reading: "Adoring Py-ka, son of Khonsu-maa", with a line of 3rd Century A.D. Old South Arabian text around its exterior rim reading: "Kharibat, she of the house of Yahmi-il and 'Aws-il, has dedicated [this] within her house", 6¼ in. (15.9 cm.) diam. (3)
