AN EGYPTIAN DARK STONE KOHL-JAR
MIDDLE KINGDOM, DYNASTY XI-XII, CIRCA 2055-1773 B.C.
The piriform body on integral square base with four square corner feet, the flat disc lid with boss on the underside to fit into lip (now missing), 2 in. (5 cm.) high; and four Egyptian miniature alabaster vessels including a kohl-jar with piriform body; a squat alabastron with lug handles; a jar with piriform body and narrow rim; and a tall jar tapering to a flared foot, all 3rd-1st millennium B.C., 1¾ in. (4.5 cm.) high max. (5)
