Pinakia were carried by citizens who were eligible to vote. They were placed in allotment machines (kleroteria) outside the courts every morning to decide who would be called for jury service that day.

The rectangular ticket inscribed with the name 'Exekestos', 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) long; and eight Umbrian stylized bronze figures, four male and four female, each with their arms outstretched, punched circles for eyes, breasts and navels, 5th Century B.C., 1¾ in. (4.5 cm.) high max. (9)
