Hand-coloured engraved geological map (772 x 642mm) on a scale of 15 miles to one inch, the whole dissected and laid down on linen. (some old pencil markings and annotations, lightly spotted and soiled, a number of the dissections lifting from the linen backing.)
FIRST EDITION THUS, FIRST ISSUE. Scarce in commerce: only the Norman-Freilich copy is recorded in ABPC fetching $13,000 hammer and $7000 hammer at their respective sales. Institutionally rare: Copac records National Library of Wales (2 copies), Cambridge, Bristol and British Library only; Worldcat adds Oxford, and outside the UK, Virginia, Linda Hall, and Melbourne.
