A VERY RARE COMPLETE SET OF CRELL'S PERIODICAL PUBLICATIONS. Crell was Professor of Chemistry and Mineralogy in Braunschweig from about 1774. In 1783 he became Professor of Philosophy und Medicine at the University of Helmstedt, later holding the post of Professor of Chemistry at Göttingen. He promoted German translations of important British and Irish scientists through his publications, including Priestly, but was most notable for his support of Richard Kirwan, one of the last supporters of the theory of phlogiston.
