Diego Monroy y Aguilera was born in Cordoba. He was appointed official painter to King Ferdinand VII (1784-1833) in 1819.

José Delgado y Meneses was born in Sanluca de Barrameda, Cadiz, and painted numerous portraits of the Royal Family, including King Ferdinand.
