A CINNABAR LACQUER PANEL
LATE MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
The rectangular panel finely carved with two long-tailed birds perched on a leafy branch bearing large peony blooms and issuing from rockwork at the base of the panel, all reserved on an intricately carved diaper pattern of florets within squares, the lacquer frame with a partially legible Xuande four-character mark
