Lot Essay

An almost identical bottle, but very slightly taller, is in the Rijksmuseum, illustrated by Christiaan J. A. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, London, 1997, no. 182, p. 166; it was formerly in the collection of J. Pierpont Morgan. Another very similar bottle is illustrated by Cosmo Monkhouse, Chinese Porcelain, fig. 33, and by Oskar Münsterberg, Chinesische Kunstgeschichte, vol. II, Esslingen, 1912, fig. 453, p. 315.
