The Yoshioka Ichimonji group flourished second only to the Fukuoka Ichimonji during the late Kamakura period. Their hamon included gunome rather than the large choji of the Fukuoka group, and often saka-gunome. This blade, although o-suriage, retains the elegant koshizori shape of classic Kamakura-period Ichimonji work.
