Sugata [configuration]: Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, even curve chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: Prominent itame with mokume, ji-nie, chikei, and midare-utsuri
Hamon [tempering pattern]: Choji-midare with sloping gunome, ashi, yo, sunagashi, of ko-nie
Boshi [tip]: Midare-komi with togari
Nakago [tang]: O-suriage, two mekugi-ana, katte-sagari file marks, kiri-jiri
Habaki [collar]: double gold clad copper
Nagasa [length of blade]: 72.4cm
Horimono [carving]: Bohi kaki-tosu groove each side

The blade accompanied by a certificate of registration as a Juyo token (Important sword) no. 6457 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated 1979.3.2

The Yoshioka Ichimonji group flourished second only to the Fukuoka Ichimonji during the late Kamakura period. Their hamon included gunome rather than the large choji of the Fukuoka group, and often saka-gunome. This blade, although o-suriage, retains the elegant koshizori shape of classic Kamakura-period Ichimonji work.
