Richard Goodricke, Sen., the son of Henry Goodricke of Wisbeach and Margaret Rawson, was born in 1524 and lived in the Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire; he died on 8 January 1581/2 in Ribston, Yorkshire. His son, Richard Goodricke of Ribston (c. 1550-1601) was painted by Cornelis Ketel c. 1578 (Adelaide, Art Gallery of South Australia, inv. no. 20049P85). One of Richard Goodricke of Ribston's sons, Richard Goodrich, is thought to have emigrated to the Colonies, establishing his family in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut.
