Sugata [configuration]: honzukuri, iori-mune, slight fumbari and saki-zori curve, chu-kissaki
Kitae [forging pattern]: tight itame with mokume, masame on the shinogi-ji
Hamon [tempering pattern]: suguha with gunome, some ashi and sunagashi, nioi with ko-nie
Boshi [tip]: midare-komi with shallow komaru
Nakago [tang]: slight machi-okuri, two mekugi-ana, file marks indistinct, ha-agari kurijiri
Nagasa [length of blade]: 67.4cm
Koshirae [mounting]: In shirasaya with unsigned attribution to Kanenobu

Lot Essay

The first generation Kanenobu of the Naoe Shizu group is said to have been the pupil of Kaneuji. The name continued with the Seki Zenjo group throught the Muromachi period, and into the early Edo period.
