25 volumes, 8° (228 x 149mm). Half-titles. Extra-illustrated edition with engraved folding map, with partial hand colouring, and 87 engraved plates by Tardieu, Blanchard, Macret and others, of which 47 on china paper. (Very short tear to map repaired with tape, light spotting and browning throughout.) Near contemporary quarter red morocco over marbled paper covered boards, by Cap, gilt spines (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Emmanuel Martin (19th-century engraved bookplate) - Albert Pascal (engraved booklabel).

A HANDSOME SET OF THE VERY RARE EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED AMYOT TRANSLATION. The first Cussac edition of 1783-1787 had 22 plates only. This reissue on grand papier vélin contains a further 66 plates not found in any other edition. According to ABPC and JAP, only three sets of this 1801-1805 edition have sold at auction since 1975, all of which had 22 plates only. Brunet IV 739; cf. Cohen-De Ricci 810.
