With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and Extract from the Archives confirming the sale of the present watch with silvered dial and applied gold numerals on 18 June 1986. Furthermore delivered with the copy of Patek Philippe servicing invoice dated 28 September 2005 for a complete overhaul of the watch.

Reference 3940 was launched in 1985 and remained in production until 2006. The present watch is from the first series, featuring sunk subsidiary dials for the 24 hours display and leap year indicator, as opposed to the even version of later models.
