Gilt-finished fully jewelled two train lever movement wound separately, bimetallic compensation balance, minute repeating and en passant hour and quarter hour striking on two hammers onto two gongs, gold cuvette, white enamel dial, Roman numerals, two subsidiary dials for date and constant seconds, large circular plain case, repeating button in the band, hours/quarter and silence levers underneath the bezel, case stamped with casemaker's initials JSo. and numbered 16442, cuvette signed and numbered, dial signed

Lot Essay

Of very high quality, the ébauche of the present watch is very similar to those manufactured by Louis Audemars who supplied an important number of movements to Le Roy between 1830 and 1885 (see Louis-Benjamin Audemars - His Life and Work by Hartmut Zantke, p. 65).
