FOUR JADE CONG TOGETHER WITH A GREENISH GREY JADE AXE AND MOTTLED GREEN JADE BLADE, ZHOU DYNASTY AND LATER (1100-221BC)
comprising a cream jade with brown specks carved as a long cylinder cong, drilled from two ends and at different angles; a partly transluscent grey-green jade with white and dark markings of cylinder form with plain surface, traces of cinnabar to surface; a greyish-green and brown jade cong of squat cylindrical form, carved in subtle relief with large c-forms to the sides of the body; a grey-green and blue green jade square sectioned squat cong, slight banding with indentation to the exterior corners, central circle unevenly cut; a transluscent deep green and dark brown jade of blade form, rectangular with convex flaring curve at one end, with a series of six projecting teeth near the centre of each side with a single large drill hole to the handle; a transluscent deep green and brown jade blade, of rectangular form flaring to one edge, with regular concave notches to one edge, one large and one smaller drill hole to middle and edge of blade -- The first, 2 3/8in.
