A GROUP OF TIBETAN AND CHINESE BOXES AND JEWELLERY, 19TH CENTURY
comprising a Tibetan ogee formed gau, with an ornately decorated and pierced cover with a depiction of Amitayus with Buddhistic precious objects; a Tibetan cylindrical silver and gilt box, the domed cover with a central sun symbol with concentric panels of lotus and scrolling foliage; a square formed Gau heavily inlaid in turquoise, coral and glass beads; a large Nepalese gilt metal pendant with the head of a central Garuda figure surrounded by inset glass and turquoise beading; a Chinese silver and silver gilt necklace, with fine raised sheet decoration of birds amongst blossoms with coral and turquoise inlay; and a Chinese gilt metal finger nail protector with inlaid semi-precious stones and vibrant kingfisher feather decoration -- the first gau, 7 3/8in. (18.8cm.) high. (6)
