A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE LOTUS TEAPOT AND COVER, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
carved in high relief to the body with overlapping lotus petals, the cover with a pair of mandarin ducks as finial; and a calcite cylinder carved in relief with c-scrolls to the tall straight sides, possibly Zhou/Han Dynasty -- the first, 6¼in. (16cm.) wide. (2)

The lotus teapot (Hv 16hl) was exhibited by the Oriental Ceramic Society, The Spouted Ewer and its relatives in the Far East, An Oriental Ceramic Society exhibition in the Barlow Gallery, University Library, University of Sussex, Falmer, Brighton, 4th October - 17th November 1983, p. 25, no. 40.
