MARK OF ROBERT GARRARD, LONDON, 1844
Fluted oval, with a finial cast as a Royal duke's coronet, engraved on one side with the Royal arms with label for difference accolé with the arms of Saxe-Meiningen within the Garter motto and below a Royal duke's coronet, the other side engraved with initial 'A' below the German Royal crown, marked near rim and on finial, with conforming Old Sheffield plate warming stand

The Royal arms are those of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn (1767-1820) accolé with those of his wife Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, Duchess of Kent (1786-1861), who he married in 1818.
The initial is that of Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, The Prince Consort (1819-1861), who married their only child Queen Victoria (1819-1901) in 1840.
