MARK OF THE BIRMINGHAM GUILD OF HANDICRAFTS, LONDON, 1930
The blade with a turned ebony handle, the ferrule formed as openwork initials SH, with a twisted wire decorated terminal, engraved with an inscription, marked on the back and on terminal, in fitted case
9¼ in. (23.5 cm.) long
The inscription reads 'NEW SUSSEX HOSPITAL FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN JOHN HOWARD WARDS Presented to H.R.H. PRINCE GEORGE K.G., G.C.V.O. BY THE ARCHITECTS ADAMS, HOLDEN & PEARSON. 29 OCTOBER 1930.'
