AN ELIZABETH II SILVER FREEDOM-CASKET
LONDON, 1961, MAKER'S MARK S&S LTD.
Oblong and on block feet, the hinged cover with a stepped finial applied with a blue initial 'K', the front applied with enamelled arms of Kampala, the back engraved with an inscription, the inside silk lined, marked on side and inside cover
9½ in. (24 cm.) wide
The inscription reads 'PRESENTED TO H.R.H. THE DUKE OF KENT, G.C.V.O. ON HIS ADMISSION AS THE FIRST HONORARY FREEMAN OF THE CITY OF KAMPALA 8TH OCTOBER 1962'.
Provenance
Presented to HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Kent when he was granted the Freedom of the City of Kampala during the celebrations to mark the independence of Uganda on 8 October 1962.
