Lot Essay

The Thames of 454 tons was built in London in 1829 for the West India trade. Originally owned by Hibberts of London, she later passed into the ownership of Thompson of London and was in service for over thirty years.

Gravesend can be identified by the spire of St. George's church, the Royal Terrace Pier, the two windmills on Windmill Hill and on the right, Roshville, with its formal ornamental gardens.

Christie's are grateful to Sam Davidson for his help in preparing this catalogue entry.
