The manuscript was made for Anthoine Bruillat, whose name and motto, 'Se mieulx non pis, are on scrolls in the border around the miniature showing male saints. The Calendar has the feasts of St Mammes (17 August) and St Desiderius (23 May) entered in red, suggesting the hours was made for use in Langres. The illumination is in a regional style and points to a date late in the 15th century. Seventeenth-century inscriptions on the front endleaf include the 1678 ownership note of Anthoine Rene Davigny De Saully.
