(Faint offsetting to plates, more noticeable on the folding map, spotting in about 15 text leaves and one plate, lighter spotting in 2 plates, neat marginal tear in one leaf.) Contemporary marbled boards, UNCUT (rubbed, rebacked and recornered in calf preserving early spine label). A LARGE, UNCUT COPY OF THE FIRST ISSUE, with double titles, the dedication to King George III, and the impressions within aquatint borders. The early impressions of the plates "are infinitely superior" (Tooley) to later. The present set is particularly large, as tall as the Frost set which Tooley described as the finest he had seen. Abbey Scenery 432; Tooley 102.
