CAMEE OVALE EN SARDOINE SCULPTEE REPRESENTANT LE BUSTE DE L'EMPEREUR TIBERE
XVIIEME SIECLE
Couronné de laurier, portant un corselet et une cape maintenue par une fibule sur l'épaule droite, de profil tourné vers la gauche; dans une monture ovale dentelée en métal doré, appliqué sur un fond circulaire en marbre moucheté à motifs décoratifs ajourés, le tout enchâssé dans un cadre associé en bronze doré, décoré de coquillages, feuillages et putti ailés

Wreathed with laurel, wearing a corselet and with his mantle brooched on the right shoulder, facing in profile to the left; in a serrated gilt-metal mount applied to a circular variegated marble ground enriched with openwork decorative motifs, all in an associated gilt-bronze frame bordered by shells, foliage and winged putti

The use of the layers of the sardonyx to differentiate between wreath, cheeks and mantle compares with the treatment of hair and mantle in I. Weber, Geschnittene Steine Aus Altbayerischem Besitz (Munich et Berlin, 2001), no. 279.
