A MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) ISLAMIC PORTRAIT CUP AND SAUCER
CIRCA 1785, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND STAR MARK, PRESSNUMMER 3 TO SAUCER
The cup painted with a three-quarter length portrait of Sultan Abdulhamid I reserved on a green ground within a circular gilt band cartouche against a gilt ground below a white border with trailing gilt flowers, with an entwined gilt branch handle, the saucer gilt with the script tughra, or royal seal, within a similar border (small rim chip to saucer regilt, some refreshing to gilding, three very small footrim chips to saucer, slight scratching to gilt script)
