"In 1991 I made a small work that used a fragment, a splinter, from another artist's work. This wasn't appropriation. It was theft. I framed the splinter... from the old Spanish door in Marcel Duchamp's Étant Donnés, his installation in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The splinter will not be missed.
