Lot Essay

The French bronzier Alexis Decaix is believed to have supplied figures of this type to Thomas Hope. Another similar pair supplied by George Bullock and William Stoakes in 1805, exhibited 'Treasures of the North', Christie's, London, 13 January - 13 February 2000, item 116.
