Each with domed lid and pine-cone finial above the tapering vase on square-panelled plinth hung with swags on tortoise supports and further plinth with scrolling foliage and tapering feet

Lot Essay

The present lot shows close similarities to Boulton's ormolu-mounted blue-john 'Sphinx vases', conceived in the George III French/antique manner, and executed at his 'Ormolu Manufactory at Soho in Staffordshire'.
