Lot Essay

The present vases bear striking similarities to the painting and gilding of pieces marked or confidently attributed to the Clignancourt factory. The factory was based in Montmartre under the protection of the comte de Provence (later Louis XVIII). The Viennese enameller, Georg Lamprecht worked at the factory from 1783 before moving to Sèvres in 1784. Stylistically his work is very similar.
