See Peter Lahnstein and Mechthild Landenberger, Das Ludwigsburger Porzellan aus seine Zeit, 1980, p. 93 for an engraving of Hausgeflügel or domestic birds by G. Fr. Riedel for use on porcelain, the birds very similar in spirit to those on the present box.
