The double-layer vinery in blue and cream creates a background for this highly intricate and well drawn carpet. Superimposed on the vinery is a variation of large and bold palmettes that are balanced by the wide, slightly oversized major and guard borders. The upright and inverted palmette motif is one that is found on quite a few Isfahan carpets but it is particularly well executed on this example.
