CASE: cushion-moulded top with foliate-tied handle and with foliate mounts to front, sides and rear, with conforming mounts to the front door rails and upper fret
DIAL: rectangular brass dial with engraving to the upper borders flanking signature 'Robert Hodkin/London', probably later strike/not strike lever, with winged cherub spandrels to silvered chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour and diamond half quarter hour markers, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, ringed winding holes and date aperture with engraving around, blued steel hands
MOVEMENT: eight day with five ringed pillars and twin chain fusees, verge escapement (replaced crownwheel) with heart-shaped backcock, hour strike on bell and pull quarter repeat on five bells, the back plate engraved with foliage and with a winged cherub mask above a cartouche with repeat signature
16½ in. (42 cm.) high, 10½ in. (26.5 cm.) wide, 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.) deep
