Lot Essay

Displaying one of the most unusual designs in this group, the present lot employs a wide range of colors, including three shades of blue. The variety of colors is paralleled by the variety of floral specimens. Some of these elements are rarely seen on Isfahan carpets and here they are executed with extraordinary detail. The inner guard border is one of the most interesting found in this group of carpets with its reciprocal S-cloud band design. This carpet occupied the Main Gallery on the first floor of the Clark residence in New York City.
