拍品专文

Few examples are known of Shirvan rugs having a double prayer niche and ivory field. While most display two columns with two rows of Perpedil ram's horns, the present lot maintains three rows, each separated by an elongated Perpedil device. The field is well drawn and spatially balanced with neither niche incomplete as is seen in other examples.

For further examples of this type, please see R. Kaffel, Caucasian Prayer Rugs, London, 1998, pp. 110-101, nos. 49-50.
