Lot Essay

Although the stamp 'B & C', which is found on elements of these chenets, appears to be unrecorded, their exceptional quality is probably the work of one of the top 19th century makers such as Beurdeley, whose fine quality chasing and mercury gilding are difficult to distinguish from late 18th Century work.
