Tasting Note: Henri Jayer is unquestionably a Burgundy super-star. His 1985 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux, which was gorgeous early in life, is revealing some characteristics of a wine in decline, particularly as it sits in the glass. Initially, its sumptuous perfume of black raspberries, dried herbs, leather, smoke, and minerals jumps from the glass. On the palate, the wine is fleshy, with low acidity and sweet black fruits encased in subtle toasty oak. eRobertParker.com (February 2002)
