Contemporary half morocco, original yellow printed wrappers and spine bound-in, top edges gilt (rubbed along joints, corners a little bumped, front wrapper frayed at lower margin), in a morocco-backed box.
FIRST EDITION, ASSOCIATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY MARCEL PROUST on half-title: "à monsieur et Madame R de Madrazo. Respecteuse hommage de leur amirateur Marcel Proust". Maria Madrazo was the sister of Proust's closest friend, the tenor and composer, Renaldo Hahn. Her husband, Raymundo de Madrazo, was the uncle of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, the most famost courtier of the day, whose clothes Proust incorporated in his Temps perdu.
