REIMAR KOCK (pastor of the St Peter Church in Lubeck, d.1569). Decorated manuscript on paper, Cronica Der Käyserliken Stadt Lübeck (composed 1549), [Lübeck], 1616, coloured frontispiece portrait, title decorated in watercolours with the arms of the city of Lübeck and of its leading families, calligraphic half title and some decorated capitals, 580 leaves, folio (322 x 202mm), contemporary foliation, books 1 and 2 only (of three) bound in one volume, contemporary German blind tooled pigskin over bevelled wooden boards, panel stamp at centre, upper cover with owner's initials ('H.S.') and '1624'. Provenance: The scribe, Hans Flaßkamp, began work on 8 May 1616 (note to half title) -- presented by Jochim Albrecht (presumably the patron) to Heinrich Sandtman, Pastor of St Ottilien's, 1616 (presentation inscription above frontispiece portrait) -- bound for Sandtman in 1624 (his initials and the date on upper cover), with a number of annotations by him -- presented by Sandtman to his relative and patron Johann Kampferbach, a member of the municipal council of Lübeck, in 1635 'ad proprios usus, utinam! longaevos [for his own use, and may it be over many years]' (long Latin inscription to inside upper cover. Sandtman's inscription indicates that all three parts were still present at that date).
